CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

 

Foundations:In this class you come away feeling “balanced.” Basic yoga poses are explored, as well as relaxation techniques and terminology that you will find in almost every other yoga class. The slow pace and simple breathing exercises make it a great place to learn basic poses and become comfortable on the mat which make it popular for beginners. The advanced practitioner will benefit form by diving deeper into the practice to explore endless possibilities.

Gentle Yoga: This is an ALL LEVELS class that is designed to take you out of ‘stressful living’ and bring you into a state of ‘healthy living’. Gentle yoga postures are explored and everyone is encouraged to go at your own pace. Both beginner students and ‘seasoned’ yoga practitioners will enjoy this class.

Gentle Flow/Restorative: Gentle Flow is designed to build strength and encourage you to try new things. It is paced in a slow vinyasa ‘flow’ sequence of linked poses, supported and directed by the breath. This class moves a little quicker than our ‘traditional’ Gentle Yoga class. Restorative postures during class will round out your yoga experience leaving you feeling refreshed, renewed and centered. This class is suitable for all levels, from beginner or senior students to more advanced students who want to slow it down and open the body.

Gentle Flow:  Gentle Flow is designed to build strength and encourage you to try new things. It is  paced in a slow vinyasa “flow” sequence of linked poses, supported and directed by the breath. This class moves a little quicker than our “traditional” Gentle Yoga class.

Flow (vinyasa):This vinyasa (flow) style class will help you build strength, increase flexibility and find focus. Moderately paced, yet challenging, this class allows the student to learn the fundamental postures and principles that create a successful and effective yoga practice. Add this Fun & Flowy class to your routine to invigorate your body and calm your mind. (Mixed Levels)

Meditative Yoga: The focus of this class is to drop beneath the surface of our daily tension into the peace and stillness within us. Using slow stretches, gentle yoga postures and fluid movements in concert with the breath, we promote a balanced state of mental and physical well-being. Without stress or strain, we tone and rejuvenate the muscular and nervous systems, activate and energize the chakras, massage the glands and organs and purify the mind and body. Note: Students are lying on the floor for the majority of the class.

Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga w/babyBoth during and after pregnancy yoga is a perfect way to gain peace of mind, patience and flexibility and reduce stress during the exciting time surrounding the birth of your child.This class is a wonderful way to connect with other new mothers and mothers-to-be in a supportive and healthy environment. Appropriate for all stages of pregnancyeir babies and for moms and their babies, ages 6 weeks-precrawling.

Yoga to Healthy Aging: This class is specifically designed for bodies that are aging. Students are invited to explore movement with breath in a class focused on range of motion, alignment and safety. Students will feel refreshed, rejuvenated and empowered by their practice. A wonderful class for any age!  This class is taught by Michelle Kaiser (owner/instructor…ERYT200, RYT500) who received her certificate from Duke Integrative Medicine in Therapeutic Yoga for Seniors and certification through Silver Age Yoga.

Yoga for Healing: Whether you are a cancer patient, survivor, newly diagnosed, in treatment, gathering strength or thriving, yoga can further your recovery and help you feel whole again. You may even find new confidence you have never known. But not all yoga classes are right for cancer patients and survivors. And for some, taking a yoga class can be intimidating because of the unique physical and emotional needs that cancer & its treatments bring. Yoga for Cancer is tailored to address the specific needs of cancer patients and survivors. These classes are not one-size-fits-all, nor simply a gentle yoga class. This class will: build strength & flexibility in safe ways stimulate your immune system & build bone density detox the body and cultivate a sense of well-being create hope & community empower all to take control & enhance their lives.

Cool Stationary: This class offers the same set of poses completed in the same order every time so you always know what to expect. The series is ideal for students wishing to gain strength. The postures in the series work every major muscle group, and are held for three to six breaths each (up to one minute). This class is not a flow. Rather, the emphasis is on finding a place of stillness and holding each pose. For this reason, classes are ideal for beginner and intermediate practitioners as well as the experienced yogi who enjoys a steady, structured practice.

Hot Stationary:  Our signature  classes offer the same consistent set of poses completed in the same order every time so you always know what to expect. The series is ideal for students wishing to gain strength while detoxifying the body. The postures in the series work every major muscle group, and are held for three to six breaths each (up to a minute). This class is not a flow. Rather, the emphasis is on finding a place of stillness and holding each pose. For this reason, these classes are ideal for beginner and intermediate practitioners exploring a heated, as well as the experienced yogi who enjoys a steady, structured practice.  Hot Yoga classes are heated to 90 degrees.

Restorative: Restorative Yoga is about learning to relax deeply, residing in stillness, reflection and introspection. In this practice we use blankets, bolsters, cushions, pillows and blocks to completely support the body in restful postures, encouraging the body to relax, open, renew and heal. As the body releases deeply, the mind grows quiet and reflective, bringing your whole being into a more balanced, natural healing state. Come prepared to lose track of time, let go of worries, breathe deeply, relax, quiet your mind and uplift your spirit, and leave feeling refreshed, peaceful and balanced.

Restorative/Yoga Nidra: A great antidote to the stresses of a busy life and a wonderful balance for more active practices, this class will take you through a sequence of restful postures, in which you are supported by props and and encouraged to find comfort and ease in your body. These restorative poses, accompanied by simple breathing techniques and gentle stretches, serve to soothe the nervous system and promote relaxation and deep healing on all levels. Restorative Yoga is accessible for everyone, regardless of experience or level of fitness. It is an excellent practice for those recovering from illness or injury, or anyone living with chronic pain. Be still, relax, and find the healing you need. Imagine the final part of your practice being guided through a blissful meditation…Blissful relaxation!

Yoga Warrior: The Yoga Warrior method skillfully integrates concepts from yoga therapy, traditional yoga philosophy, psychology and sensory integration theory with current scientific knowledge of the mind-body connection to promote health wellness and peace of mind from within. This class specifically helps individuals with PTSD, COSR and TBI. This class is not heated. (Not listed on class schedule- please make inquiries to Michelle).

Partners Yoga: A fun, easy going practice of yoga to spend with your spouse, friend or child!! Great for encouraging communication and trust in one another! Moves are done with your partner.
